December 2010 - "Gimme Shelter"
Robin (Erithacus rubecula)
seeking shelter in England's Winter of 2010.
Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast
and are spotted with golden brown.

October 2010 -
"Autumn Flame"
As the beauty of Autumn Colours are revealed, there will be thousands
of "classic" photographs taken - most of them stunning.
How about trying something different?
This shot was produced by using a fairly long shutter speed, then
rotating the zoom barrel about half way through the exposure.

|
September 2010 - "Moored Up"
With summer nearly over, thoughts turn to winter holdays.
An award winning shot taken from the beautiful Maldivian Island of Vilu
Reef. |
|
August 2010 - "Patience"
The little egret (Egretta
garzetta)
is a small white heron with attractive white plumes on crest, back and
chest, black legs and bill and yellow feet. It first appeared in the UK
in significant numbers in 1989 and first bred in Dorset in 1996. |
|
July 2010 - "Team Work"
The Brahminy Kite (Haliastur
indus),
also known as the Red-backed Sea-eagle, is a medium-sized bird of prey
in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal
raptors such as eagles, buzzards and harriers. |
|
June 2010 - "St Michael's Mount"
Despite being a place of prayer, from time to time the Mount felt the
steel of combat and has survived sieges
and battles throughout the ages.

May 2010 - "King of the River"
Kingfishers are small unmistakable bright blue and orange birds of
slow moving or still water. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt
fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water's
surface. |
|
April 2010 - "Infinity"
A change from the more natural subjects this month - a taste
of the images I took on holiday with my new "pocket" camera. More to
come in the review of the Olympus
E-P2 I am preparing. |
|
March 2010 - "Hit the Road"
Every morning, the Masai Mara in Kenya awakens to the rising sun, a
chase by the
big cats as they hunt for breakfast and the low rumble of the
elephants'
morning chorus. |
|
February 2010 - "Tracks to Nowhere"
This winter, the south of England saw more snow than it had for a
generation. In Hampshire, a depth of 18 inches was recorded and many
villages were cut off for several days. Those in the north of the
country wondered what the fuss was all about. |
|
January 2010 - "Until Tomorrow"
The sun sets on an idyllic island in The Maldives bringing peace to an
area where, just five years ago, debris from the violent tsunami across
the Indian Ocean was washed up on its beaches. |
